Melancholy Day

Today is a gray, gray day.  It is actually really lovely.  Sort of a day where you revel in being alone.  A day where you want to shut the doors to life, crawl into bed, turn on some Badly Drawn Boy, and be sleepy.  It isn't a day to be sad....it is a day to be melancholy.  There is a difference.  There is no self pity involved in a melancholy day.  It is just a time to reflect.  To enjoy the fact that nobody is going to call you.  Nobody is going to need you.  Nobody is mad at you.  You can just exist.  If everyday was like this it would be sad, but some days you long for it.  Long for the solitary aloneness.  Long for the gray skies....as a friend of mine says...the clouds  feel like they provide a cover...a protective covering....protecting you from evil,.  It is a day in which you don't want to smile  And it is okay to do so.  Because God has granted us this quiet moment.  The melancholy of the sky.  The melancholy of the heart.  The calm before the storm.  Why not embrace this quiet moment?  Not to be sad, but to rejoice....rejoice in the intense emotion which requires calm.  Look into my eyes, you void.  See the sadness.  The experiencein my eyes.  I look into yours too, and see the same.  Beautiful.  We are both beautiful.
