Today is one of those days that you always seem to long for, but so rarely get. Outside it is slightly chilly, but inside it is warm and cozy. You have been way too busy all week long, but today....there is nothing really on the plan. It's cozy, it's warm...it's quiet. Those quiet sounds of football rustling in the background on the tv. It is perfect. Every one is just a little dozy, and full.... The funny thing is, you can try as hard as you might to put the elements in place to create this day...every sunday, or christmas, or thanksgiving gives you memories of just how nice a day like today is, and so you turn on the football, and lie down to get dozy, and have a full stomach, you can try to achieve this feeling of contentment, but something just isn't right about it. This kind of contentment, and feeling of childhood nostalgia, perhaps even a sense of being comfortable, and protected....cannot be forced. It slips up on you, and before you know it, you are a part of something. Something so good, that you strive the rest of your life to find it again. That sense of home.
Today Steve was so cute. He made me a cake. While he made it he sat there singing..."I'm making my baby a cake...yesiree, I'm making my baby a cake." Then he would say...honey, what pan do I use? Where are the ingredients, how do I turn on the oven, ....so i would get up every two seconds to help him, and then he would go back to singing, "i'm making my baby a cake"....i put more work into him baking a cake, then i would have to make the cake myself...but....he was so happy to cook for me, and make me my favorite cake...a spice cake.....and that (as he would say) makes all the difference in the world.:)
....he just said from the living room....as he is eating aforementioned cake..."Man! I make a mean cake.:))) Gotta love him.:)
